Julia read 'Journey into a tiny world' and told me that she wanted to illustrate it in her own special way. Which she did. She has created - almost sculpted - 18 paintings with sugar, twigs, sand, moss and plaster to produce tissues such as the heart, veins, bone, a scab, an eye and a blood clot. Each canvas is about 30cm wide and 1m50 long and was inspired by specific paragraphs in the text. And acrylic paint was used for colour.
